Airport passageway opens
A passageway connecting international and domestic terminals at Naha Airport is open, giving passengers who switch flights between international and domestic flights a sheltered and safe passage.
The Naha Airport Building Co., Ltd. started constructing the passageway last July. A part of the project, a passageway connecting the international airport to the new multistory parking building across the street, opened on Apr. 27. The second part of the project connects it to the domestic airport terminal and the older parking buildings.
The covered passageway has guiding grooves on the floor tiles to guide visually handicapped persons, and it’s covered to shelter passengers from rain and sun. Until now, transfer passengers who needed to move from the international to domestic terminal had to walk along a sidewalk and cross the road with car traffic.
