So called Bar Walk events have proven to be popular in the past. The first Bar Walk was introduced a few years back in Fukuoka, from where the concept has then spread to other cities in the country.

The basic concept is simple. Organizers arrange a set of tickets to be sold that can be exchanged in participating bars and pubs to drinks and snack foods. A map, on which the establishments and their opening hours are marked is given to the bar hoppers, and otherwise they are on their own, and free to make their own schedule. Bar Walks have proven to be excellent opportunities to meet new people and make friends, as groups form that hop from bar to bar.

The next Bar Walk in Naha is scheduled to take place this Saturday centering on the bar areas in the vicinity of Kokusai Street. 68 bars and pubs are taking part in the lineup this time. The walk starts from 15:00 and runs through midnight, but as the establishments have different operating times, some coordination is necessary.

Tickets costing ¥3,600 in advance have five coupons priced at ¥720 each, and can be used in five different bars, or one can use multiple tickets at one. On the day of the event the price goes up to ¥4,100. Tickets are sold at Co-op Omoromachi in Naha, Ryubo Department Store 8th floor ticket counter, and at Bar Walk Naha information booth in front of Tembus Naha on Kokusai Street.

Japan Update will raffle three tickets to the Bar Walk Naha. To take part, go to JU facebook page and send a message!
