Baby capybara born in Southeast Botanical Gardens

A baby capybara was born to a female capybara in the Southeast Botanical Gardens on Apr. 8th.

Capybara is the largest rodent in the world that can grow up to 134 cm in length and weigh up to 66 kilograms. It is native to South America.

The baby capybara is currently shown to the public, and very popular among visitors, especially kids.. It’s 30 cm long, but its caretakers have not been able to determine its sex. Once the sex becomes clear in about one month, the newcomer will be named.

The Southeast Botanical Gardens currently has four capybaras, two adult males, one female and the newborn baby.
