New company to take over airport services

Japan Airlines affiliated companies, JAL Sky Naha, Okinawa Airport Service (OAS) and JTA Southern Sky Service will merge in July to launch a new company.

These three companies are in charge of counter services of foreign airlines, JAL Group airlines and air cargo service. The aim is to strengthen the counter service at the prefecture airports and transport operations necessitated by the rapid increase of overseas low cost airlines flying to and from Okinawa.

The name of the new company has yet to be determined. The Japan Transocean Air (JTA), and Japan Airlines (JAL) have invested in the three companies and are now negotiating their shares of investment in the new company.

The new company is expected to employ about 800 workers.
