Toyomi Bridge pileup sends seven to hospital
A pileup involving a truck and six cars occurred at a little before noon on Sep. 17th on Toyomi Bridge in Madanbashi, Tomigusuku City.
According to Tomigusuku Police, a dump truck carrying a load of sand hit a curb when switching lanes, and crashed into a rental car in front of it. Then the rental car hit another car ahead. In addition, the truck crashed into another car and pushed that car still into another. All in all seven vehicles were involved.
The accident site is on a bridge, and usually a very busy street. The accident messed up the traffic for two and half hours and caused a major traffic jam.
As a result of the accident, seven people were taken to a hospital. One of them, a 37-year-old man, suffered broken ribs and others, both men and women, had minor injuries. None of the injuries is life threatening.
