Prefectural Police officer nabbed for DUI in park
A male police officer assigned to the Prefectural Police Headquarters has been caught driving under the influence during the Silver Week. The Prefectural Police made the incident public on Friday.
According to investigators, the officer moved his car late in the evening on Sep. 20th while under influence. He drove only a few meters in a park next to his house in Naha City, but he hit another car that was parked in the park.
A police patrol arrived at the scene and smelled alcohol in the man’s breath while conducting a routine investigation. A breathalyzer text showed that the officer had more than the legal limit of alcohol in his breath. He then immediately admitted to have driven the car under influence.
