Okuma Fest welcomes beach season to Okinawa

The largest beach party of the year on Okinawa, Okuma Fest, is a mix of American and Okinawan cultures this weekend.

Okuma Fest is free, and open to the entire Okinawa community at the military resort north of Nago City. The Festival runs from noon on Saturday through Sunday. Okuma Fest features music from local bands, food vendors, a Fly Board Show, land and water recreational activities as well as full access to the beach t Okuma.

Saturday’s entertainment brings Diamantes, R3 Manami and Sky’s the Limit to the stage.  On Sunday, featured entertainers are T.O.K., Glean Piece, Lim and T-DA.

Okuma Beach is located 51 miles north of Kadena Air Base, just off Highway 58. Kadena Outdoor Recreation and Okuma Outdoor Recreation advise that camping is still available at Okuma.  Both recreation facilities have equipment available for rental.

Okuma makes sure that no one attending the festival goes hungry.

Pets, glass containers/bottles of any type, spear guns, fireworks and privately own watercraft are NOT allowed at Okuma. Although it is an open gate event, there will be a 100% photo I.D. check point. Bags and coolers will be inspected by Security Forces at the gate. Personal vehicle entry is restricted. Visitors/guests parking will be located at the flight line parking area, unless you have room reservations. All garbage and litter must either be deposited in trash bins provided, or taken with you when you leave.
