Robber of Okinawa City convenience store arrested

Okinawa City Police arrested a 29-year-old restaurant worker on suspicion of robbery and trespassing, on Feb. 11th.

According to investigators, Taiki Yamashiro from Koja, Okinawa City, is suspected of robbing a convenience store at knifepoint in Yogi, Okinawa City, on Sep. 29th last year. He allegedly threatened a store worker with a knife, and took ¥110,000 cash from the register.

Okinawa City Police have been investigating footage from the store safety camera, and connected Yamashiro to the incident.

Police say Yamashiro has admitted to the charge, but they are still investigating the details of the robbery.
