Okinawa population sees slight increase
The population of Okinawa posted a slight increase over the year through September 2014.
According to the Statistics Division of the Okinawa Prefectural Office, the population increased 0.42 %, although the rate of increase declined a tiny 0.04 points from the previous year.
The rate of the natural increase of the population, which is calculated by subtracting the number of deaths from the number of live births, decreased 0.05 percentage points to 0.39 %. The number denoting the social increase that includes the net immigration of people into the prefecture increased 0.01 points to 0.03 %.
The Statistics Division of the Prefectural Office compiled the figures. The population increased In 26 municipalities on the island while the population declined in 15 municipalities.
