Elderly woman murdered in her house in Motobu
A 72-year-old woman was found dead, apparently murdered, in her home yesterday afternoon in Toguchi, Motobu.
According to Okinawa Prefectural Police, the woman’s son and his wife found the woman’s body lying face down on a bed on the first floor of her two-story home about 1 p.m. on Feb. 12. The body had several knife wounds on her neck and down to the left shoulder. No murder weapon used in the crime has been found yet, investigators say. The Prefectural Police has opened a murder investigation into the case.
According to police officials, the woman had been living by herself in the house. Her son and wife became worried when they could not get in touch with her, and went to visit in order to check if she was all right.
Police say that the room was not trashed, and the door was unlocked. One of the windows that someone could have used to enter the house was also found unlocked.
