Naha Airport International Terminal to get prayer room
In order to respond to the requests and needs of increasing numbers of foreign visitors to Okinawa, the Naha Airport Building Co., Ltd. will prepare a dedicated prayer room for travelers, in the International Terminal of the Naha Air Port. The prayer room is scheduled to open in May.
Airport company officials say they are planning to respond to the needs of diverse religions of the increasing numbers of overseas tourists. The space reserved for praying will be about a dozen square meters in size on the fourth floor of the International Terminal. Its floor will be covered in part with tatami mats, and it will be divided into separate areas for men and women.
Officials stress that the prayer room is not meant for only certain religions, but would be available for all people to use.
