Okinawa City Police arrested 28-year-old U.S. Army Captain Nathaniel Curley of Torii Station for obstructing a police office in his official duties on Dec. 18th.
According to Okinawa City Police, Curley broke through a police checkpoint in Miyagi, Chatan, and drove away. Police gave a chase, and managed to stop his car after about 300 meters. However Curley attempted to run away on foot, and hurled himself against a 39-year-old police officer. The policeman suffered minor bruises and scratches in the incident.
A subsequent breathalyzer test showed he had more than twice the legal limit of alcohol in his breath. He was arrested on the spot. When questioned, the suspect denied the charges claiming, “I don’t remember anything.”
