Ryukyu Philharmonic woodwinds afternoon concert Wednesday

The Ryukyu Philharmonic Orchestra Woodwind Quartet accompanied by pianist Reiko Uehara plays in an afternoon concert at Palette Kumoji Theater next Wednesday.

Divertimento No. 1 B-major by Joseph Haydn is one of the lead elements in next Wednesday’s Ryukyu Philharmonic Afternoon Concert Volume 2, featuring a woodwind quintet and piano.

The concert is under the baton of Masahiro Uehara, with Reiko Uehara the pianist.  Doors open at 1 p.m. the 20th for the 1:30 p.m. concert at Palette Civic Theater.  Admission is ¥1,500 for adults and youth.  Children under age 6 are admitted free.

The afternoon concert features both music and a talk show.  Also on the program are the 1st Movement from Trois Pieces by Jacques Ibert, Memories of Summer by Yoshinao Nakata, Song of the Beach by Tamezo Narita, Song of Londonderry, an Irish folk song, and Sugarcane Field by Naohiko Terashima.

Following the concert there’s a special party for fans at the Okinawan vegetable garden restaurant “KARA KARA”, located on the 9th floor of Palette Kumoji in Naha. This is a chance to have a conversation with musicians who, if you are lucky, might tell you back stage stories. There’s a lottery too, where guests can get a present. To attend the party an application to Ryukyu Philharmonic Office is required. Their telephone number is 080-6497-8049.  The party fee is ¥1,000. The party is open only for the first 20 people who apply.
