Nakaima announces intention to run for third term
The incumbent Okinawa Governor Hirokazu Nakaima has confirmed his intention to run for the third term in the office.
He stated his intention to run at a meeting in a hotel in Naha with officials of 40 local companies in attendance on Jul. 18. The governor said he would be running for his 3rd term in the election in November. “If I can receive the support, I would strongly run again.”
According to a source, the governor would accept the request from the Liberal Democratic Party to run for the 3rd time on Jul. 26. He would then hold a press conference at the beginning of August to officially announce his run for governor.
