Cultural entertainment slated for Sundays on Kokusai Street

No entertainment workshop on Okinawa is complete without a sanshin class.

Okinawa Tourist Service and the Naha City Culture Exchange Association have teamed up to present Sunday afternoon “Bunka-no Umuimuchi” performances throughout the summer.

Recent events have included Okinawan fuku fuku tea ceremony.

The events are celebrating OTS’s 55 years serving Okinawa, taking place at the 2nd floor OTS offices on Kokusai Street in Naha City.  The weekly entertainment takes place Sundays from 3 p.m. ~ 3:40 p.m., with the theme changing weekly.  This week’s theme is “the beauty of Yaeyama entertainment and dances”, while on the 15th it will be “Okinawa sanshin experience class’, the 22nd “collaboration of Ryukyu and Japanese Traditional Dance”, and the 29th “Sadoyan Okinawa picture-story show”.

Admission is free.  The OTS lounge location is identified on the Google Map: http://goo.gl/maps/uhNPF.  The cultural events will run Sundays through September.
