Store robbed on Miyako Island

A man holding a pair of scissors entered a shop on Miyako Island early morning on Feb. 27, and threatened a 77-year-old woman shopkeeper demanding money.

The woman took out about \70,000 from the cash register and handed it to the robber who grabbed the money and left. The woman was unharmed. Miyako Police is investigating the incident.

According to Police, the man appeared to be 40~50 years old, about 165 cm tall, and was wearing a long sleeved shirt, pants and had a towel tied around his mouth. After taking the money, the man fled the scene. The store had opened at 5 a.m. and there were no customers in the shop during the robbery.
