Okinawan wins Miss Universe Japan pageant
20-year-old Okinawa-born Keiko Tsuji, representing Nagasaki where she currently lives, won the Miss Universe Japan beauty pageant in Tokyo, Tuesday. Tsuji will now represent Japan in this year’s Miss Universe pageant to be held in Brazil.
After winning the Japan pageant, Tsuji said, “There are still many worries for the world tournament, but I will do my best to not let everyone down.” One of her special abilities is Karate, which she learned while in Koza High School.
Mr. Japan was also selected on the same day, and 26-year-old Okinawan actor Toru Higa won the contest.
