Okinawa has number one birth rate 39 years in row

Okinawa Prefecture Welfare Division announced Tuesday the 2012 Okinawa Vital Statistics data.
According to department figures, the number of births in the prefecture increased by 156 with a total of 17,074 babies born during 2012.
As birth rate per capita, it again makes Okinawa no.1 prefecture in Japan, a position the prefecture has held 39 years in a row.
