Airman arrested for drinking and driving
Naha Police arrested John Clanford, a U.S. Air Force member stationed on Kadena Air Base, Saturday, on suspicion of drinking and driving.
Clanford first denied the charge at the time police arrested him, and claimed last time he had drank alcohol had been a couple of days before, but when questioned further he finally admitted to the charge.
Police measured more than three times the legal limit of alcohol in his breath.
According to Naha Police, they arrested Clanford on suspicion of driving his car under the influence of alcohol in the Kumoji district in Naha City, early morning of Aug. 24. He had crashed his car into the center divider of the road, and people who were passing by called police.
