A surprised passer-by discovered a group of small chicken chicks by the shore of Yakena Seaport in the Yonashiro district of Uruma City in the morning of July 13, and called the police.
Police responding to the call counted 32 chicks at the site, and contracted a farmer to collect them six hours later for safekeeping.
Investigators suspect that someone brought the chicks to the site and threw them away because there are no chicken farms in the area from where they could have escaped.
According to police, chickens looked a little exhausted when they were found, but are getting better in their new home. They looked healthy, but officials from the public health department investigated them one by one just in case.
