Child Art Exhibition now open at Prefectural Art Museum
Okinawa Prefectural Art Museum is offering a special Child Art Exhibition through the summer months, all aimed at getting kids interested in art.
The exhibition opened this month and runs through September 16th, 9 a.m. ~ 6 p.m. daily except Mondays, when the museum is closed. A later entry is to 8 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, with entry required at least 30 minutes before closing. Admission is ¥300 for adults, ¥200 for high school and college students, and ¥100 for elementary and junior high school students, and also for people over age 70.
At this exhibition, the Okinawa Prefectural Art Museum is getting children to feel familiar with a line, a color, a form, and a size as a concept. What will happen if the color of a picture, line, and form, which a small child draws, are denoted by contemporary art? The exhibition room is decorated like a child’s room or a toy box, and visitors can enjoy the space. The exhibition method is set up low, at the level of a child’s eyes, to make it possible for both parent and child to be able to enjoy the exhibition.
