One drunk driver suspect arrested in crackdown
Okinawa Prefecture Police conducted a crackdown at 36 points of Okinawan main roads and Okinawa Expressway exits from midnight of Feb. 15th trough the morning of the 16th. Around 240 police officers took part in the operation.
The checkpoints netted six drivers who are charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, and one faces charges with drunk driving.
According to Police, 62 people were issued tickets for using a cell phone while driving, 28 got tickets for speeding and 21 were cited for a failure to wear a seat-belt.
