Night angler disappears, drowns at Naha seawall

A boat operator reported to the 11th Regional Coast Guard Headquarters 10 a.m. Sunday morning, that an angler that the operator had taken to a seawall off Naha New Port a day earlier had disappeared.

According to the headquarters, the had taken the male angler, who had planned to go to night fishing, to the seawall at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Next morning another angler informed the boat operator at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday that a tent is on the seawall that the man had set up was empty with no one in sight, and the boat operator called the Coast Guard.

According to coast guard officials the lost man is in his 50’s and from Okinawa City.  The headquarters dispatched three patrol boats and an aircraft to the scene to search the area, but not a trace of the man was found. The search was halted at the sunset and continued on Monday.

A Coast Guard airplane finally found the body of the missing man floating out on the sea about 1.1 kilometers northwest from Nishimachi Monday morning.

    They’re all a bunch of drunks anyway, probably fell into the sea in a stupor like some fishermen have done at Toilet Bowl, which is junky beyond belief because of these fishermen.
