Ginowan’s year of celebration includes Industrial Festival
Ginowan City’s marking its 50th anniversary as a municipality this year, and is including this weekend’s 23rd Ginowan City Industrial Festival as a major event.
The free festival takes place at the Ginowan Fishing Port 10 a.m. ~ 6 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. ~ 5 p.m. on Sunday. Ginowan City officials note the steady growth the city’s experienced in recent years, and says development will continue. The Industrial Festival is one of the city’s largest festivals as a competitive show with displays, exhibits on sale and a means of promoting friendship between citizens.
Organizers say the agriculture and forestry and marine products are well received and
promoted, as are commerce and industry products. Producers operating within the city are all encouraged to participate, exchange goods, services and information, and contribute to development of the city’s industry.
Saturday kicks off with “how to keep a dog” consultation meetings at 10 a.m. A Pepsi-Coke quick drinker competition gets people together at 1:30 p.m., followed at 2:10 p.m. by goat fighting. Also in the afternoon is a Talent Academy Musical Show, followed by Johnny Ginowan Live at 4 p.m.
Sunday brings the soft drink challenges again, with a Pepsi-Coke quick drinker competition at 12:40 p.m. An arm wresting competition follows at 1:10 p.m. and a musical show at 2:40 p.m. A snatching off fish competition starts at 3 p.m., using numbered tickets being distributed from noon on. The World’s best Hip Hop Dance, the Homeland Street Dance, is at 3:20 p.m., with the Children’s Flower Bracken Dance at 4 p.m.
